Today
( 25th November 2024 ) was an exciting day as the Department of
Zoology hosted a captivating session led by Dr. Satyanarayana, a scientist from
the Zoological Survey of India, on the topic of corals and coral reefs. From
the moment the session began, our students felt as though they had plunged into
the depths of the oceans. Dr. Satyanarayana provided valuable insights into the
significance of corals and coral reefs, highlighting their role as biological
indicators of pollution. He also discussed the adverse effects of global warming
on these delicate ecosystems. The session was enriched with numerous videos
showcasing the underwater world, leaving both students and staff in awe of Dr.
Satyanarayana's remarkable work.

The session was filled with lively interactions, as students eagerly asked questions. At the end, a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. B. Sreedevi and Dr. D. Aruna Kumari. The session concluded with a felicitation of the chief guest. Faculty members Nagajyothirmai, Ruhinaz, Dr P Giridhar and Saleemuddin added grace to the session by their presence.
