On the 14th of November 2023, Dr. Parveen and G L N Prasad undertook an academic audit at K H Govt Degree College in Dharmavaram. The college, nestled within a spacious and well-decorated campus, proved to be a commendable setting for academic pursuits.

The visiting team, arriving promptly at 10 am, was immediately struck by the meticulous maintenance evident throughout the campus. The corridors were not only aesthetically pleasing but also impeccably clean, a testament to the college's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment. The entire premises was monitored by CCTV cameras, ensuring a secure and safe atmosphere for both students and staff.

One of the noteworthy aspects of the college is the strict adherence to a dress code by the students, reflecting a sense of discipline and professionalism. The commitment to environmental conservation was evident with the planting of 120 mango saplings, each meticulously protected by tree guards. The campus, enclosed by a sturdy compound wall, stands as a testament to the institution's dedication to the welfare of its students and the preservation of its surroundings.

The NSS wing at K H Govt Degree College was recognized for its dynamism, having actively engaged in numerous socially relevant activities. The impact of their efforts was apparent, further highlighting the college's commitment to holistic education.

The visit commenced with the team paying their respects to the donor, a tradition that underlined the importance of acknowledging the contributions that sustain the college. Subsequently, an interactive session with students provided valuable insights into the academic and extracurricular experiences within the institution.

A particularly enriching moment was when Charan Sai, a student, shared his experiences with the Red Rope team in Chattisgad. This not only showcased the diversity of opportunities provided by the college but also highlighted the students' active involvement in socially impactful initiatives.

The students' expressions of satisfaction regarding the delivery of content indicated a positive and conducive learning atmosphere. This is a testament to the college's commitment to academic excellence and its success in fostering an environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

One of the standout features of the college is its spacious gymnasium, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for physical exercises. Physical Director Anand, an alumnus of the college, deserves commendation for his dedication to promoting sports and yoga among the students. His encouragement has played a pivotal role in instilling a sense of discipline and fitness consciousness among the students.

The library at KH GDC Dharmavaram boasts an impressive collection of 16,000 books, providing students with a vast repository of knowledge. Librarian Kiran's expertise in training students for competitive examinations adds an extra layer of value to the library's offerings. His commitment to academic excellence is reflected in the success of students under his guidance.

The principal's chamber, with its spacious dimensions, provides a conducive space for conducting staff meetings. The ongoing construction of an anti-room further demonstrates the college's commitment to providing adequate facilities for administrative functions. The academic leadership is in capable hands with Pavani, a Physics lecturer, chairing the IQAC.  Her constructive approach as the coordinator has undoubtedly contributed to the positive developments in the institution.

The submission of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) data for the past two years showcases the college's commitment to transparency and accountability. The upcoming submission of the IIQA as promised by the IQAC Coordinator, underscores the institution's dedication to continuous improvement.

The IQAC chamber's spacious layout facilitates productive and collaborative discussions during periodic meetings. The commitment of lecturers is evident in the timely submission of departmental evaluation reports, meticulously cross-checked by advisors.

Individual contributions by faculty members further enrich the academic environment. Gopal Naik and Chittemma Madam's generous donation of cash prizes reflects their commitment to recognizing and rewarding student achievements. Pushpa Latha's significant contribution to three textbooks and Smt Bhuvaneswari Madam's organization of enriching field visits demonstrate the faculty's dedication beyond traditional teaching methods.

The adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for posting of marks of internal & external examinations in the CIA pattern reflects a commitment to academic integrity. The emphasis on student-centric methods, including seminars, quizzes, field visits, and documented evidence such as photographic records, suggests a focus on holistic education. The efforts taken for Remedial Coaching for slow learners demonstrate an inclusive approach to education, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to excel.

The existence of grievance cells, anti-ragging cells, and women empowerment cells indicates a commitment to student welfare and a safe and supportive learning environment. Many Committees are constituted as an evidence to decentralization of power and work. Providing internships is a valuable way to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. The meticulous filing of program books and log books for both internships and community service projects reflects a dedication to maintaining a transparent and accountable educational system.

The recognition of Principal Dr. K Prabhakar Reddy for instilling a sense of team spirit among faculty members is crucial. Effective leadership is essential for the smooth functioning of any educational institution.

Finally, the mention of the "Space on Wheels" program in collaboration with ISRO adds a prestigious dimension to the institution, demonstrating an active engagement with cutting-edge developments in science and technology.

It's impressive to see the significant contributions of the Telugu faculty member Shoukathali to Telugu literature. Such literary achievements not only add to the cultural wealth of the institution but also contribute to the broader literary landscape.

The sustained vigour and vitality of the English department under the leadership of Dr. Jeevan showcase the department's commitment to academic excellence and its ability to maintain high standards over time. This continuity in quality leadership is essential for the continued success of any academic department.

The generous donation from Sri C M Ramesh MP for the construction of toilets is a commendable contribution to the infrastructure development of the institution. Adequate facilities, including sanitation infrastructure, are crucial for providing a conducive and healthy environment for both students and faculty members.

However, there are certain drawbacks that need attention for the overall improvement of the institution. One of the prominent concerns is the challenge of poor admissions, despite the scientific admission drive undertaken by the dedicated staff. The college's location, situated three kilometers away from the town, may be a significant factor contributing to this issue. The distance might pose a barrier for potential students, impacting the overall enrolment figures.

Connecting with students from feeder colleges has been identified as a critical need of the hour. The institution should explore effective outreach strategies to bridge the gap and attract students from surrounding areas. This could involve collaborative initiatives, awareness programs, and engagement activities to showcase the college's strengths and offerings.

While the academic and administrative parameters of the college have received positive feedback from academic advisors, the concerns over poor admissions and the nature of best practices stand out. It is essential to reassess and redefine the admission strategies, considering the geographical challenges and exploring innovative methods to attract students.

Additionally, addressing the nature of best practices is crucial for enhancing the overall quality of education in the institution. Identifying areas that need improvement and implementing effective strategies will contribute to the college's academic excellence.

In conclusion, despite the challenges, KH Govt Degree College in Dharmavaram has the potential for improvement. The dedication of the staff and positive academic and administrative parameters are commendable. However, the institution must focus on addressing the issues related to poor admissions and refining its best practices.

Academic advisors after meticulous evaluation of all the parameters, sincerely felt that KH Govt Degree College deserve B grade.
