Training on Question Bank Preparation for Pathway Courses in Biological, Physical, and Computer Sciences

Overview:

The workshop organized on November 21st , 2023, to train staff members in the preparation of question banks for pathway courses in biological, physical, and computer sciences was an immensely successful and enlightening event. The session, chaired by Dr. ACR Diwakar Reddy, Principal, was held at the Examination Section and hosted by the examination committee, consisting of Dr. Chalapathy, Dr. Sahadevudu, and Sri P C Lakshmi Kanth. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of faculty members in question bank preparation, an essential aspect of curriculum development.

Speakers and Contributors:

The workshop boasted a distinguished panel of speakers and contributors. Dr. C. Madhavi and Dr. H. Pallavi from the Department of Microbiology provided valuable insights into question formulation. Additionally, expertise was drawn from various departments, including S. Rajasekhar Reddy and T. Jitendra from Chemistry, Dr. Bakthavatasalam and Dr. Chandrasekhar from Physics, Dr. B Sreedevi and G L N Prasad from Zoology, Dr. D Raghuramulu and Dr. Amrutha Lakshmi from Botany. Furthermore, expert faculty members from the Departments of Computer Sciences and Geology actively participated in the workshop.

Workshop Structure:

The workshop was structured effectively, with each team assigned one or two units. The teams were tasked with preparing a comprehensive question bank encompassing multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, true or false, and match the following patterns. The emphasis on incorporating Blooms taxonomy in question framing demonstrated a commitment to creating assessments that promote higher-order thinking skills.

 Highlights:

The workshop was not only informative but also hands-on, providing practical experience in question bank preparation. The allocation of specific units to teams facilitated a focused approach, ensuring thorough coverage of the course material. The collaboration among faculty members from diverse disciplines showcased the interdisciplinary nature of the workshop.

Networking and Collaboration:

The workshop fostered a collaborative environment, encouraging participants to share ideas and best practices. The exchange of knowledge and experiences among faculty members from different departments added depth to the discussions and enriched the overall learning experience.

Conclusion:

The workshop concluded on a high note with the successful preparation of question banks for all subjects by 5:00 PM. The diligence and commitment of the participants, coupled with the guidance from experienced speakers, made the event a resounding success. Overall, this workshop not only enhanced the skills of the staff members but also strengthened the collaborative spirit within the institution.
