Academic Audit of Zoology & Biochemistry Departments at Govt.College (A) Anantapur
On 13th March 2025,
following the instructions of the CCE, a team of academic advisers visited
Government College (A), Anantapur. The team included Dr. Annapurna, Dr. Kiran,
and Dr. Gopi Naik. Among them, Dr. Gopi Naik was assigned to conduct the
academic audit for the Departments of Zoology and Biochemistry.
Dr. Gopi Naik visited the
Zoology and Biochemistry departments at 10:30 AM. An interactive session,
presented in PowerPoint format, was conducted in the digital classroom. During
this session, I presented a comprehensive overview of the department's profile
and activities undertaken over the past two academic years. The presentation
covered:
- Profile of the Department of Zoology
- Achievements of the staff members
- Departmental activities with supporting
evidence
- Details of blood donation camps organized by
Dr. P. Giridhar
- Information on the Foldscope workshop
conducted by Dr. B. Sreedevi
- Student-centric activities such as seminars
and quizzes
- Extension activities by faculty members,
including invited talks
- Guest lectures organized by the department
- Seminar on coral reefs and their conservation
- Collaborative activities with NYK and ANSET,
where our faculty members participated as key resource persons
Following the
presentation, Dr. Gopi Naik reviewed the department's physical documents and
collected Format-III from individual lecturers. The faculty members responded
efficiently, ensuring the audit proceeded smoothly and successfully. After
completing the review in the Zoology department, the adviser proceeded to the
Biochemistry department.
The Biochemistry
department received special appreciation for its Certificate Course on First
Aid and a workshop on CPR, which was recognized as a significant achievement.

Based on constructive
feedback from the adviser, the following analysis was developed:
Strengths:
- Strong team spirit among faculty members
- Proactiveness in administrative duties
- Active participation in social initiatives in
collaboration with NYK and ANSET
- Faculty contributions to journals and books
- Faculty members serving as textbook authors
and trainers for lecturers, teachers, and police personnel
- Regular organization of blood donation camps
(twice a year)
- Dynamic RRC Coordinator
- Proficiency in utilizing digital platforms
for teaching
- Two faculty members maintaining individual
YouTube channels with over 1,000 videos each
- A departmental blog showcasing faculty-led
events
- Installation of an RO Plant, facilitated by
Dr. D. Aruna Kumari, providing potable water to thousands of students
- Well-maintained departmental library and
museum
- Field visits conducted in collaboration with
the Department of Fisheries and the Indian Red Cross
Weaknesses:
- The aesthetics of the museum require
improvement
- Old stock items need to be written off
- Some documents are not in tune with SOP
Opportunities:
- Availability of a PG Course in Zoology
- Employment prospects for Biochemistry
students in Anantapur's numerous clinical labs
Challenges:
- Competition from private institutions
- Outdated laboratory equipment
- Limited research funding
The dedication and
cooperative effort of the faculty ensured that this academic audit was a
resounding success, reflecting the commitment to quality education and
departmental growth.
